Why Go to College?

Here's What Supportive Adults Can Do

Finding the Perfect College

As your student explores their college options, you can support him or her in several ways:

  • Review their college planner periodically — make sure they are keeping it up-to-date.
  • Help identify colleges that might be a good fit.
  • Attend a college fair with your student.
  • Review a list of participating colleges ahead of time and steer your student to those colleges on their list.
  • Look over and discuss the "Making the Most of College Fairs" checklist before you go.
  • Help your student narrow down their college choices from many to a few.
  • If you can, go on college visits with your student.
  • Use the "7 Key Factors for Choosing the Best College" Comparison Chart
